Katie Scullin - Vocals / Guitar

KatieFollowing in the footsteps of her older siblings, Katie took to the stage at a young age. Her first play was around the age of 5 or 6. Laurel, the oldest sibling being 4 years older, was already in choir and singing solos which made Katie very anxious to learn. It felt like years until she was finally able to join the first grade choir. A few years of piano lessons growing up gave her the ear for noodling on the keys and she learned rhythm while taking ballet, hip hop and tap dance classes. Katie was always involved in musicals throughout elementary and middle school and as a freshman in high school joined the The South High Street Singers competitive show choir. It wasn't until her junior year that she picked up the guitar from her older brother DJ. After more than a decade and a half of bickering, pushing and shoving the two finally sat down as DJ patiently taught Katie the universal chords of the guitar. Katie bought her own Fender acoustic with her graduation money in 2004 and from there began writing her own music. After all those years of being on stage Katie says playing her own music in front of a crowd was probably the most challenging. Katie has always had a love for the arts and finally after two years of college slacking so she could play her guitar, decided that, although it's not the most "promising" of career choices, music was the love she couldn't ignore.

DJ Scullin - Guitar

DJDJ grew up in Fort Atkinson Wisconsin surrounded by music influence. In the 5th grade he joined the elementary school band playing alto saxophone and continued the instrument all through high school. While the sax was fun (in an ear piercing elementary school band) he picked up his first electric guitar at age 11. After the devastating tolls of marching band, he joined the jazz band and quickly learned theory and improvisational skills still with him today. DJ also sang in show choir all four years in high school along side of his lovely sister Katie Scullin.

DJ's musical influences cover an array of genres such as blues, jazz, and jam bands that leaving psychedelic droppings of classic rock and roll goodness in your earlobes. DJ is inspired by many guitar extraordinaires such as Jeff Buckley, Ari Hest, Robin Trower, Johnny Greenwood, Trey Anastasio as well as the all time greats like Jimmy Paige, David Gilmour and Jimi Hendrix.

Tim Schmitt - Drums

TimGrowing up, my mother would constantly ask me to stop tapping on everything. I found myself like most kids, trying to convince my parents that playing the drums was something I just had to do and could you please invest in some very loud noise makers for me? Well without any success I decided to make my own. I proceeded to raid my mother's Tupperware cupboard and had soon constructed a Carl Palmer / Neil Peart like creation starting with a margarine container and finishing off with a five gallon bucket. Within six months I had graduated onto real drums and have been playing ever since. I guess it stuck. Over the years, many bands have come and gone, and I've been very fortunate to still be 8 years old when I bang those skins. Some of us never grow up, we just look older. Having been close to a record deal, toured internationally as well as played along with numerous professional acts, I find myself inspired, re-fueled and home again with a very special family known as Rivalry. Intelligent and passionate music with a talented vocalist that reminds me daily just how lucky I truly am.
